Xmen Origins: Wolverine Preorder Bonus

First the good news, there is a preorder bonus for what could be the best movie game of the year Xmen Origins: Wolverine. The bonus is a code that unlocks an extra area of the Weapon X facility with a few surprises.

Inside this secret area you will find four rooms.

Behind door 1, The Dismemberment Room. This ones a bit creepy, on a display you select how you want a soldier to be chopped to pieces, then he appears in the adjoining room, viewable through a glass panel, and suffers your chosen amputations.

Door number 2 leads to The Environmental Kill Room. All the fatal environments from the game are in this room and a button press beams in soldiers eager to be hurled to their grisly screaming deaths.

 Wolverine 1

Door number 3 is The Ladder Challenge Room. Press the button and bad guys appear. Kill them. Chuckle and say something cold blooded. Press the button and repeat. But each button press increases the bad guys skill and endurance. That’s right, the Ladder Challenge Room is Wolverine’s personal Horde Mode.

Behind Door number 4 reveals a puppy, remember your childhood as sickly child James Howlett in your one happy moment of life when you’re father presented you with a puppy. Nah just kidding, door four is The Custom Combat Arena. Here you can spawn any combination of enemies and threats from the entire game. That boss fight just not tough enough for you and your enormous adamantium testicles? Spawn five bosses and take Wolverine’s healing factor to its limits.

Cool huh?

So here’s the bad news. This DLC is Gamespot exclusive, so you need to preorder through them to get the code. Hopefully its one of those cases where the content is on the disc and the code will be doing the rounds within an hour of the game going on sale. Otherwise fingers crossed that these features are available as DLC soon after the game launches.

There is a distinct whiff of the old, ‘left out to charge for later’ strategy around these features. I guess we’ll find out when the game is released in May.
