EA's highly polished survival space horror Dead Space is set to hit the Wii in prequel format with Dead Space Extraction and some new screenshots were released today showing a couple of gameplay images and some concept art.
Dead Space Extraction is set prior to Isaac Clarke's adventure on the USG Ishimura and tells the story of a mining colony trying to overcome the infection that will eventually plague its residence and turn them into the nasties that we were dismembering on the Xbox 360 or PS3.
There's been some uproar that this game has been turned into an on-rails first-person shooter, but this is the internet. When is there never vocal opposition to anything on the internet? I think an on-rails shooter makes efficient use of the Wii's limited graphics power to expand the excellent Dead Space narrative without ruining the memory of its highly polished next-gen brother before it.
Having said that, it doesn't surprise me that most of these screenshots are concept art. You don't want to sour the hype-broth with 576i gameplay screens just yet, do you EA?
Still, this definitely looks like a game to watch out for. Thanks Kotaku for the images, I owe you.
