What exactly is the collective noun for zombies? The general internet consensus seems to be ‘a plague of zombies’ as the most accepted. I’d prefer a ‘stagger’ or perhaps a ‘groan of zombies’.

Well whatever it is, when the Left 4 Dead Survival Pack is available next week you’ll be facing zombies in numbers your wildest nightmares couldn’t conceive.

According to the official Left 4 Dead blog Valve's Kerry Davis and Scott Dalton go into great detail about the pacing of the Survival mode and mention that gameplay sessions will last ten minutes at the most and the: "the number of zombies killed in a single round often outnumbers an entire campaign."

Rather than the move/attack/move gameplay Survival Mode will be a constant crushing stream of enemies, including the ‘specials’ attacking every minute. Every time you take out a Tank another one will be right around the corner. Reloading and reviving team mates will require timing and planning that wasn’t as important in the original coop.

If Left 4 Dead has dropped off your rotation recently you might want to drop it back in and start honing those skills, because if you're feeling rusty Survival Mode is going to hand you your ass.
