I have to confess to being partial to Westerns. I like them, the books, movies, I like them a lot and yes, sometimes I stand in front of the mirror with a poncho and a black hat on snarling at my self, daring myself to 'make a move'. That's not so strange right? Everyone does it. I like Westerns. I'm also pretty partial to steampunk, a genre of fantasy and science fiction that uses alternative timelines or puts advanced technology or magic in late 19th or early 20th century settings.
Damnation takes both these great tastes and throws them together and its finally solidified a release date: May 28.

The game has more going for it than an interesting setting though. The levels are huge and you have dozens of angles from which you can tackle objectives. Vertical travel is important in Damnation, or to put it another way, you need to climb up stuff. While the game is focused on shooting and more shooting you need to climb and leap around like Lara Croft to traverse levels. If you see a neat sniping position on top of a silo you can climb up the side of that sucker and take out your opponents.
Instead of a trusty steed your cowboy character has a trusty motorbike which you can use to drive straight up walls as well. Illogical scenarios are awesome.
the vertical gameplay applies to the multiplayer as well and players will be racing each other up buildings to get the best positions to take enemies out from. Damnation promises all the usual modes like Deathmatch and King of the Hill. Even better news for multiplayer fans Damnation has drop in drop out cooperative play for the entire single player campaign so you and a mate can sit uncomfortably close on your motorbike together. Thankfully one of you can play as girl so thats... slightly less awkward.
Damnation launches for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on May 28.
Between this Red Dead Revolver 2 and Call of Juarez 2 its looking like a damn good year for cowboy lovers... I mean cowboy film lovers.
