A true sandbox game gives its developers freedom to completely explore the world in surprising ways with intriguing stories that can be as close or as far removed from its original content as the developer pleases. Rockstar's Liberty City from Grand Theft Auto IV is proving to be one of the great sandbox games of our generation. It's allowing Rockstar the freedom to tell cinematic stories without constraint and further cements GTA IV and all its expansions as one of the greatest games of all time.
The next episode to be distributed both electronically and on compilation disc is Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony. The second lot of downloadable content expands on the story of Grand Theft Auto IV by casting you as Luis Fernando Lopez, the third party involved in the great diamond heist towards the climax of GTA IV. Luis Lopez is the assistant to Tony Prince and the game will centre around the work Luis does for "Gay" Tony. No doubt Luis' story will intertwine between friends, family and a few familiar faces.
We're only two weeks out from E3 and already we've seen revelations for Modern Warfare 2, Kojima's new Metal Gear Solid game and now an expansion to GTA IV's franchise. You have to wonder just how big the other announcements at E3 will be if they're pushing some of the most popular and successful game developers to get their reveals out of the way before hand.
