I'm not finished with the PSP announcements that happened at Sony's conference, because a whole mess of PSP Games (that's right games!) were announced along with the new hardware.
The one I'm most excited about would have to be Grand Turismo Portable; the image at the top of this article is an actual screenshot. Yes a screen shot; that is what the game actually looks like running on a PSP and at 60fps. WOW, not only that but this game contains 800 cars and 35 tracks. Talk about a real Grand Turismo on PSP; this game also supports 4 player Ad hoc mode and car swapping. This is the game the PSP has been waiting for since launch; literally since it was first announced back then. Release date

This post is about multiple games not just one, so obviously your thinking some other big name games must have been shown, and you would be right. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker was announced. Hideo Kojima will be writing the script and the producer for the game. The same team from MGS4 will be behind it, so it's obviously in good hands. This will be a direct sequel to Metal Gear Solid 3 taking place 10 years after the events in that game. I can see a lot of PSP's being sold from this game, there is a new trailer out there set in Latin America and it looks good. Release date has been set for 2010.
Following the trend of big franchises coming to the small handheld; Resident Evil Portable is brand new game made just for PSP. It's also the first Resident Evil to come to the PSP. Since Capcom is on a roll at the moment with the good games and the good job it did on Resident Evil 5 (Review can be found here) we can set our expectations high for this one. No release date was given at the time of the announcement.

A game shown but without an official announcement until SCE gave a list of First Party games being shown this year was Fat Princess: Fistful of Cake. I don't have much else to say besides yes please! The PS3 version looks fantastic and I think this is a game that could lend itself well to a portable version.
Little Big Planet was finally shown for the PSP after being announced a while back, and it looks really good; it seems like it plays similarly to the PS3 version. No word on PS3 connectivity or the creation mode.

With the rest of the games also announced for this year such as: SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3, PixelJunk Monsters Deluxe, BUZZ! Quiz World, Hot Shots Tennis, Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Assassins Creed and MotorStorm: Artic Edge it's going to be a good year (finally) for PSP owners. Tags: |
