I'll confess, the main reason I'm posting these screenshots is beacuse they're just so damn pretty, I can't help but share them. I'm just a sharing caring kind of guy.

These shots come courtesy of the excellent FF fansite finalfantasy-xiii.net which is well worth checking out if you have or ever intend to have any interest in the upcoming series of Final Fantasy games set in the Nova Crystallis universe (if you're all ready scratching your head definitely check it out).

So these are the Shiva twins, one of your summons for FFXIII. In previous FF games Shiva was a single character who used an ice attack on enemies. Now it's two characters and in addition to an ice attack they have another interesting power...

They bond together and form a motorbike. Don't even think of asking me why, but they do. You then ride the motorbike round an ice track summoned by the two sisters and attack the bad guys. It fulfills those twin goals of all aspects of a Final Fantasy game, to be both breath takingly stunning to look at and utterly bizarre at the same time.

Strange, but a cool kind of strange you know. If you think back to the E3 trailer (available at finalfantasy-xiii.net if you haven't seen it) it features these two in action becoming a motorbike and gives you a glance of a few other Summons. One other I recognise, Ifrit, the lion headed fire based summon that you usually get early in FF games along with Shiva. Its comforting for old fans like me (I started with FFVII on the PS1 so I'm not super hardcore) to see that despite this new direction for Square, they're still keeping to the traditions their games have had for years.

Now I wonder when we'll see Sid...
