Infinity Ward Changes My Mind About Limited Editions

Fresh from Twitter is a video of Robert Bowling, the face of Infinity Ward, unboxing the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Standard, Hardened and Prestige editions set to hit store shelves November 10.

So what are your options? Well, the Standard edition comes with the game, that's it. The Hardened edition comes with steel case and artwork book, pretty standard fair for a limited edition box, really. The awesomeness doesn't hit you like balls to the face until you realise that the Prestige edition comes with fully functioning night vision goggles...

It's okay, take all time you need to process that. I'll just sit here waiting for you, daydreaming about running around my backyard in nothing but a pair of jocks and official Modern Warfare 2 night vision goggles. Okay, ya done?

Along with the goggles you'll get a replica head of Soap Mactavish featuring authentic mohawk, as well as a download token for the original Call of Duty soon to be released on Xbox Live Arcade and PSN. Right on!

What I noticed immediately, however, is that the Call of Duty logo only appears on the stock standard version of the game. The Hardened and Prestige versions run the original Modern Warfare 2 logo. What makes Robert Bowling's disdain (probably shared by the rest of Infinity Ward) even more apparent is the way he flicks the standard edition across the table like it's a re-release copy of Monster Truck madness for the Nintendo Wii.

Is this Infinity Wards way of saying to Activision, "You can force us to sit next to Treyarch on the bus, but fuck you if you think we're gonna share our Gameboy."
