In what was the worst kept secret since the PSP go, god Sony you have a great track record don’t you?, a newer, slimmer and cheaper Playstation 3 was announced overnight at Gamescon. The new PS3 will be sold on the 1st of September with a price of $499.95. 200 dollars is a fairly large price cut if you ask me.
The unit will come packed with a 120GB Hard drive and a new firmware, 3.0, will arrive the same day as the new system. The new firmware will mainly sport an upgraded XMB. Official specs say that the system is 34% more efficient and 32% Smaller than the outgoing PS3.

One thing that is exciting for Bravia owners, the new slim PS3 will support Bravia sync. This means that if you want to watch a movie on your Bravia you can control the PS3’ XMB with the Bravia’s remote control and not have to buy the PS3’s Bluetooth remote.
So comment below, will this low price temp you to buy a PS3 now? Did you buy a PS3 yesterday and now feel ripped off? Or is the Slim just ugly? You tell us. |
