Dear Sony. Can you please fix a problem with your Playstation 3?
It’s actually the most annoying thing I have come across in gaming for a long time. If you have no idea what I'm talking about just imagine buying a game off the PSN. The next steps in the process are to download it, then play it; but what if the downloading step fails? That’s right you end up paying for a game that annoyingly you can’t play!
Okay, okay, before I get mobbed by the PS3 fanboys I'll let you know the situation. For one, I never background download. I always turn my Playstation off at the back before downloading a demo, large sized patch or a downloadable game and I have plenty of space free on my hard drive. This came to a peak the other day when I received a MAG beta invite, so of course I proceeded to download the game. Except it wouldn’t download for the first few times, which is VERY annoying! Luckily it ended up working, but seriously Sony WTF!
This isn’t an issue with the PSN, it’s not an issue with the games, and it’s not an isolated incident for me (and no it has nothing to do with my Internet connection). It is hard drive issue according to Sony. The hard drive corrupts the download data and when it attempts to install it, it fails and I get the error message 80029564.
The reason I am writing about this is because my Xbox 360 downloads everything first time, every time, even when the system is OFF! It’s the only thing letting my gaming experience down on my Playstation and it’s really annoying the F#%$ out of me. Why should I have to waste internet downloads and reset the hardware just so I can play a few demos or give you money for DLC and PSN games for them to take me 3 or 4 attempts (looking at you Prince of Persia Epilogue) to get them working? I don’t even try to download Demos from the PSN if they are available on XBLA; it is much less of a hassle.
Have any of you run into this problem before? If so, come complain with me in the forums. |
