You may have heard of a movie called Antichrist by notoriously weird director Lars Von Trier. In case you haven't it's about a couple traumatised by the death of their infant son who crawled out their apartment window while they were getting giggity. They head to a cabin in the creepiest woods in the world to try and deal with their psychological damage. Instead things get very weird and very messed up, talking foxes and people without faces mix it with self mutilation of a kind that makes me cross my legs just thinking about it.
If you think you've got the stomach for the details and don't mind spoilers you can read the film summary here at wikipedia. But I have to warn you, I've only read about it and it sounds nine kinds of messed up and I'm a long time David Lynch fan. The really crazy thing is they're making a game out of it.

A Danish newspaper has revealed a PC game titled Eden will be released that follows on from the strange ending to the movie, of which the title image is concept art. The ending is a bit ambiguous and doesn't really tie things up as neatly as one would expect. But we're talking European arthouse horror here. Rumours abounded from Cannes that people were screaming, vomiting, fainting and running from the cinema and the police had to be called to break up a punch up between two critics over the film. Given that this was from the critics screening and so it was the critics writing about themselves you can expect a bit of hyperbole, but no question it's an extreme piece of work designed to generate extreme reactions in those who see it. So imagine that level of confrontational material in a game? What could that possibly be like? Game director Morten Iversen describes it thus:
"It will be a self-therapeutic journey into your own darkest fears, and will break the boundaries of what you can and can't do in video games".
Now decidedly adult and self therapeutic it may be, but I don't think I have the guts to even see this film let alone play the game. I can say with some confidence that this is a game I will never play. I'm quite comfortable with my current level of messed up. But how about you readers? Is this the kind of film to game adaptation you can get behind?
Of course you'll have to import it, no way the OFLC would give it a pass.
