Just a quick blog entry stating the obvious for some, but I guarantee it isn't for the majority. The enigma, that is, "Killstreak Rewards".
Ok, there's two types of killstreaks. The first is the killstreak that you get for shooting people with your choice of weapons and not dying which unlocks killstreak rewards that allow you to bring in your unlocked choices of "off screen support". Simple enough.
The second is the killstreak assists you get from those off screen support ... umm ... supports ... adding to your overall killstreak. Eg: Predator Missile, Chopper Gunner, etc etc. This is where the confusion lays ... with me at least.
I have spent ENDLESS hours watching vids with people killing away with the Chopper Gunner and wondering why the hell their kills add on to the next killstreak reward when mine doesn't. Turns out, there's rules for the use of them.
In Call of Duty 4 the basic idea with killstreak rewards was to save the best till you died so you could get a running start on the next killstreak with whatever you had achieved. Here's the tip: This can't happen in Modern Warfare 2.
Rules for Killstreaks using Killstreak Rewards:
1. A "Care Package" doesn't count towards your Killstreak. They are merely free kills, or assists, depending on what you get, but they don't count towards the next.
2. You have to use them before you die. If you save them for your next life they don't count towards killstreak rewards. In a way this is irrelevant if you have saved your largest choice of reward till the next life. It still adds to your game score.
There also has been a glitch with the "Pavelow" kills not counting either. But this is a fault and is apparently either being addressed, or already fixed. I don't use the Pavelow.
It's all fairly simple and obvious when you see it laid out like that, but funnily enough, you have to research it for yourself to figure out the details.
Oh, and RIP 1887's. That "fix" came through for me this morning. IT WASN'T BROKEN. What's the bet they tone down the Chopper Gunner next... |
