Some of THQ’s recent successes (and one under appreciated wii game) have had sequels announced overnight. Good for THQ, they needed a few hits and luckily it has happened with some quality games. Funny that, make a good game and people will buy it… Most of the time
Speaking at a THQ investor call, the THQ CEO Brian Farrell has said that Red Faction 2 and Homefront (see trailer below) will be released in their fiscal 2011, which ends March 31 2011. Mentioned alongside Red Faction 2 is that we can expect “robust online gameplay” in the game. Being the most fun part of Red Faction Guerrilla this makes me exited for E3 when they will show the game off for the first time.
They were not the only announcements that THQ made, oh not by a long shot. Saints Row, Darksiders and De Blob are also getting sequels. Unfortunately we will have to wait until Fiscal 2012 (April 1st 2011 – March 31st 2011) to see these ones. You have to be happy about that since those three games have all been well received by critics and us here at TAGS.
The date for Saints Row 3 made me think, are we going to get a new game engine for Saints Row 3? Why is it going to be 3 years after Saints Row 2? Volition will have made 2 Red Faction Guerrilla games in that time. Its likely that a new GTA will be released around that time as well, so is this a move to update the Saints Row world with new graphics or are they going to move to have more destruction?
