A Failure on the Battlefield

One of the best downloadable games of last year was undoubtedly Battlefield 1943, with its fun game play and slightly cartoon look the little download that could mustered up strong sales and a high player count. But something is really wrong with the game and it is too late to do anything about it now.

One of the biggest criticisms of the game was the small amount of maps the title came with, limited at 3 normal maps and 1 map with only planes for an online only game is a small number. Granted the game came with a small price so that was often overlooked. But with the massive amount of maps in the Battlefield archive why didn’t we get some more maps to go along with the game?

I'm not asking for these for free; in fact if EA/DICE were smart they would have released a map pack every month after the initial games release, 3 popular Battlefield maps for 10 bucks. Would you be able to say no? I know the Battlefield community is a hardcore one and I'm sure they would have paid for these packs.

I say would have is because all those people playing the game, which really can’t be that many after Modern Warfare 2’s release, will soon leave since the excellent looking Battlefield Bad Company 2 is just around the corner now. It is a massive opportunity gone begging and I hope that someone at DICE is saying “I Told You So!”
