I never got to play Black, one of the xbox's swan song titles. It was well reviewed and comes up in conversation whenever talkbackers are running through the greats of the FPS genre. The cinema inspired, highly stylised action seemed to be a much needed antidote to a toxic flood of Halo impersonators that appeared on the Xbox. But in these post Modern Warfare game playing times, when cinematic blockbuster action has become synonymous with the military shooter game genre, can a sequel to Black make an impact? Stuart Black, co-creator of Black, thinks so and has managed to bring Codemasters and Namco Bandai along for the ride with their new IP Bodycount.
Check below for another screenshot.
The press release promises Bodycount will 'rip apart the first person shooter and deliver genre-defining gun play that comes alive in an orgy of bullets and destruction'. Several mentions of shredding the world around you seem to indicate a lot destructible environment is available to crush into dust.
It's all ready got people calling it 'the ultimate shooter' (Official Xbox Magazine at least) and Black (the guy not the game) promises the title will be an antidote to cowardly cover based shooters, in Bodycount no piece of cover is safe.
Could be one to watch out for this year.
