I recently got the shits with my wired headset for the Xbox Live so decided to give the wireless headset ... more like ear piece ... a go. The cord was starting to warp and ride up towards the analog sticks and the connection was a fraction random and occasionally scratchy. It was beginning to f*&k with my gaming chi.
First up, for JUST under 70 bucks, the ear piece is steep. Don't know if it needs to be that pricey, and another fail is that you can't charge and play at the same time. Fortunately it has a USB charge port and doesn't take long to charge. They tell me - or the manual does - that it has 8 hours of yap time on board one charge.
When you first put the ear piece on you feel like a retard. It took me awhile to get used to it, but after a short period I began to forget about it. It has volume controls and you just tap the power button on the side for mute. That's better than the wired one where you have to look away to find it. Also, you can power it off and on using the same button by holding for a second. It has tones to let you know various things such as mute on/off, power on/off, volume up/down, and low battery.
The mic is quite sensitive to ambient noise as, I guess, it would need to be because it sits on your cheek. This might explain those blokes online that you can hear game play via their mic. It also has an apparent range from the Xbox of 9 metres. Apparently I can be heard just fine by the fellas I game with.
One of the bigger problems I found was the voice delay, on occasion. You'd talk, and it was like the delay you get on calling overseas on the home phone. You'd find you and your mates talking over each other sometimes.
I suggest sticking with the wired headset unless someone is buying you a wireless one or wired one is giving you the shits just the same as it did me. I'll keep using it because it's even just handy for listening to other players communicating about enemy locations, without the wires. |
