Call Of Duty Black Ops, the next title in the Call of Duty franchise from World at War Developer has been announced and a teaser trailer has been released. I highly suggest you watch the trailer after the break, since it looks really cool. It seems that Treyarch have figured out that Call of Duty's best singleplayer sections are when you are placed in high intensity situations. So they filled the game, well at least the trailer, with them.
First things first, the game will release in the US on November 9th 2010. Now what we currently know about the game, thanks to Game's (the store) UK site listing Vietnam, Cuba and the Arctic as possible locations. Even though the description has now been taken down, the whole quote is here:
"Call of Duty returns this November, but this is a Call of Duty like no other, this is Black Ops.
Now you will witness the birth of the Elite Special Forces and take part in off-the-record missions using unconventional weaponry to get the job done! From Cuba to the Arctic and the jungles of Vietnam, Call of Duty: Black Ops features stunning cinematic graphics and intense gameplay that puts you right at the heart of the action!"
Personally I think this game is going to be a disjointed excuse to play some really cool scenarios. Which basically what Modern Warfare 2 was, it just didn't let you know that up front. My guess is that the game will be Spec-Ops style with a cohesive story set in the modern day (see the date shown in the lab scenes) tying you to each mission, allowing easy Spec-op style Co-op applications. Add to this the great Call of Duty multiplayer and what will almost be an essential Nazi Zombie style mode after the success World at War received thanks to the mode.
The official press release states:
"We can’t wait for our community to experience Call of Duty: Black Ops,” said Mark Lamia, Studio Head for Treyarch. “We have focused our entire studio on this game, with dedicated multiplayer, single-player and co-op teams creating the most intense, gripping and riveting experience possible for our fans on all fronts.”
Have a look at the trailer and let us know what you think the game will entail.
