I'll ask you the same question I shouted to Miranda Kerr after I climbed the wall around her family home and then threw a brick through a window to get her attention. "Are you ready to fall in love?". Hopefully unlike Ms. Kerr you haven't contacted the police by now and had me tazered until by bladder released. But I'm not talking about me (that ship has sailed, sorry), I'm talking about you and Monday Night Combat. A game you probably haven't heard off, but you won't forget about soon.
Developer Uber Entertainment seem to have extracted the best features out of several cult games and siphoned them into pure sweet gaming goodness, and, get this, it's an Xbox Live Arcade title.
The trailer tells you almost everything you need to know about the game. There's six classes with unique weapons, strengths and weaknesses, not to mention special abilities. I've all ready picked my favourite by the way, the bearded Heavy in the egg shaped armour. While the game looks a lot like Team Fortress it's got more in common with tower defence games like Defence of the Ancients or League of Legends.
You have a Money Ball that needs to be defended while simultaneously assaulting the enemies Money Ball to crack it open and scoop up the cash that pours forth. Money can be used to upgrade your own equipment, weapons and abilities and to buy defense systems like turrents to help protect your money ball. In addition to your six team mates your team has a small army of robots who will bee line straight for the enemy money ball to try and over come the defences for you. Games have a max time limit of ten minutes with two minutes over time. Splitscreen play is also supported with two people able to play on a single machine. For the Friend List challenged there's a single player mode where you need to take on a never ending stream of robots Horde style. This mode can also be played two player splitscreen or four player with up to three friends. Ranks and rewards are tracked for all players that can be used to unlock new goodies as you progress. The developers boast that up to 400 'pro tags' will be unlockable for the dedicated player.
This game simply looks fun as hell, like a title you could play for one hour or hundreds and enjoy just as much, it's definitely my most anticipated game in the coming months. Tragically no release date is confirmed as yet but it's definitely appearing this year.
