Here's a game that snuck in under the radar - 'cuse the pun - and is due for release at the end of this month on apparently PC and Xbox. No word on the PS3; big sur .... uh, nah, I'll just leave it.... *cough*
You work as part of a sniper team where you take the role of trigger-man or spotter and the game features realistic better than standard ballistics where gravity, wind, and breathing can be an issue if you man up and skip the difficulty where you'e supplied with a training bra. Seriously, it's like a dude reading Ikea instruction manuals; you just don't, you just wait till the missus is sick of your shit and let her decipher it, you wait till you're out of the dog box and THEN you have to keep your mouth shut while she uses her ten thumbs to figure which is the 1 inch screw, and which is the 25mm ones...
But I digress...please, bounce through the jumpy point for more info...
In the following video you get a decent idea of your role as the sniper. Please note, the scene where he's hiding in the bushes with the 'Bunny Rifle' that is 'in fact' about '30 feet long' but the barrel doesn't pass through the leaves 1 foot away. This is a fundamental flaw in every FPS, and it's silly.
Going by various descriptions online I take this game like the movies, The Sniper, where there's plenty of long range blasting away and more traditional assault rifle goodness as well. But this doesn't pop up in the video.
I'm having trouble nailing down a price. IGN.au reckon $40 for the Xbox version, but I don't know if that's 40 bucks au .... on the au site. Other places suggest less than 70 bucks. Either way, I think it's worth keeping an eye out for. Definitely not everyone's cup of Chai, but might be alright coz we got scammed on Sniper Elite long ago. No, I haven't forgotten..
I'll put a discussion in the forums for the multiplayer, as well. Sweet looking vid out as well for that.
