Damn it, I know I only just, just, posted my Halo: Reach review a few hours ago but Bungie have gone and announced a bunch of new maps for Halo Reach. They're coming November 30 (this year obviously) and will be selling on Xbox Live for 800 MS points.
The three maps are Anchor 9, Tempest and Breakpoint and they are none of them Forge creations. They're all new, unique locations just itching for you to get blowed up all over... exploded all over... okay that's never going to sound okay. Bungie also announced a Forge competition alongside the new maps so if you're a keen cartographer head over to www.bungie.net and check it out.

Anchor 9 is an orbital base with exterior low grav environments designed for 6 to 8 players to slayer and objective game types. Looks like a pretty fun environment with plenty of dark corners to hide in.

Tempest is a a coastline level dominated by a Forerunner structure and it's made for big team battles. You can almost see purple vehicles zipping through the skies and hurling plasma bolts at each other. Looks like a fun level to explore as well. I love Forerunner levels in Halo games and I'm glad to see one in Reach. I missed the Forerunner/Flood sections from previous Halo games.

Another big team battle map, Breakpoint is reminiscent of that terrific Reach level where you have to protect Halsey's lab from a Covenant assault. It's an underground ice cavern with all sorts of UNSC and Forerunner paraphernalia lying around the place. It might look small in some of the screen shots but when you see the Wraith in the first one it'll give you an idea of the size of the place.
