For those fortunate people with their Xbox 360 or PS3 connected to the internet you can go download the UFC 2009 Undisputed Demo. I'm going to assume you left now to go download the demo, because it's good, really good......... Oh your still here, ok well I guess you're harder to impress than most people. I think you should read on to see why you should give this game a fair go.

A new UFC Game hasn't been seen in a while, the last one was the terribly received UFC: Sudden Impact released on the PS2 in 2004. When compared to the yearly released WWE: Smack Down vs. Raw this is a long time between games. They have seemed to have used their time well since this game looks and plays awesome.

The graphics still have that sweaty look, but surprisingly it isn't to the determent of the overall look and feel of the game. The little details are great, with the crowd, ring and umpire all looking impressive. The animations are fluid and look realistic. The blood effects are also important in a game where a lot of head high contact happens, and it looks brutal. I think the bruising that appears in the game is also really nice. It all gives a look and feel that makes you not want to be a UFC fighter.

Controlling your character is surprisingly easy, but I still suggest that you use the training mode given to you in the demo. I won my first Match before I saw the training mode, admittedly I was button mashing. After that I realised how deep the combat in this game really is! I'm not going to try and explain how you control your character besides saying that punches and kicks are controlled with the Face Buttons, with modifiers on the Left Analogue and the triggers with grapples being controlled with the Right Analogue.

In the Demo you get a choice of 2 different fighters, Chuck Liddell and Shogun Hua. I can tell you; these 2 feel very different in combat. Chuck is a much more of a power hitter, whereas Shogun is much better grappler. This changes the strategy a lot in the game because if you're playing with Shogun you want to grapple and prevent Chuck from striking you too much. Playing as Chuck you will want to try and knock out Shogun, which you can do with the first punch if it is perfect.

The game doesn't seem to have a specific amount of health a fighter needs to take before he can be knocked out. Like in the UFC a fight can last for a total of 10 seconds if you are good enough. This feature is just awesome; it gives another level of realism to a game that already seems to set the bar above Fight Night Round 3 and Smack down vs. Raw. If you have even a glancing interest in UFC, WWE, Boxing or any martial arts you owe yourself to play this demo.
